Protein Packed Puppy Chow

The name puppy chow is extremely deceiving. I need to make it clear that this is not for dogs, at least I wouldn't recommend it! But it is for humans and I remember LOVING this as child. I mean who wouldn't, traditionally it's made with chocolate, sugar, peanut butter, and more sugar. What's not to love?!

My problem with this was that I would eat way too much and it led me to a sugar kick, followed by a major sugar crash and stomach ache. This is my first time making it myself and I decided to make mine with my homemade chocolate frosting and my favorite protein powder. I promise you it is just as addicting but just a little less sweet, which I really like. Let me know what you think and if you make it, use the hashtag #LabbyRaEats so I can see it!

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Set the oven to 325 degrees. As that's heating, melt the frosting with the coconut oil in a medium size pot over medium-low heat for 3 minutes.

  2. Turn the stove off and gently stir in the Chex mix. If there is excess chocolate, add more Chex mix. Then add your handful of pretzels.

  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread your puppy chow mixture over it evenly.

  4. Bake this in the oven for about 25 minutes, shaking the pan around 15 minutes.

  5. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes, then break apart any clumps you see.

  6. Add this mixture back to a bowl with one scoop of protein and mix it all up, making sure the mix is all coated with protein powder.

  7. Enjoy!
